Meditation can serve many different purposes.
Overall, the purpose of meditation is to help you gain more information about yourself so you can better understand your own behavior. A meditation can help you figure out why you eat or drink more than you claim to want to.
There is a reason and you unconsciously do desire to do it. Even if it seems destructive, it has a higher calling—a message. Those annoying, painful behaviors and, even your symptoms of depression and anxiety, are all trying to aid you in discovering your truth. They are trying to get your attention—like an itch you keep scratching but does not resolve. Look inside of yourself for the resolve.
It is a place to project our greatest human fears. What if death is conceptualized as a parallel, neutral plane? A place where souls reside free from human body and such biases. If our ultimate fears are contrived from our minds, and we can change our minds, we can change in ways we have yet to imagine. Give up patterns of suffering by facing those fears rooted in the conditioning WITHIN us.
